
BOBTV KIDZ invites young children between the ages of 8yrs and 15 yrs to create a short film or documentary on the theme provided: “My Super Hero”
Objectives: The Camcorder Festival and boot camp has as its objectives:
Entries are submitted to BOBTV KIDZ for evaluation. The top 52 entries shall be announced and presented to the Nigerian public in a 13 week TV series titled BOBTV KIDZ. The public shall be invited to vote via SMS for the preferred entry. Each week a winner shall emerge. Every winning entry becomes eligible for a grand prize which shall be presented at the end of Series in a grand finale.
Registration forms: Registration forms may be obtained online at www.bobtvkidz.org (download) and may also be obtained at participating schools. The completed forms need to be signed by the child’s parents as well as an official of the child’s school. The forms require a phone number and an e-mail address of the parent/school for feedback and verification. All registration forms must be received in our offices by March 20th 2008. Upon receipt of registration the child will receive an email through the email address given to confirm acceptance of the registration. At this time the child may commence the project.
Equipment Required: Participating kids need to have access to PAL DV Camcorders (Parents or guardians or sponsors are expected to provide camcorders for their kids or wards).
Finished Project Submissions: Finished projects should be submitted to the BOBTV KIDZ office on or before April 30th 2008. Each child may submit only one project. The project submitted must be the idea of the participating child. Advice and guidance may be given but the intention is to discover the talent in the children. Theme: The Theme for the Festival is: “My Super Hero” It is expected that this theme shall be explained to the participating child to enable them tell a good story.
The kids are expected to script shoot and edit a short account of this theme.
How the festival works: The entries submitted shall be reviewed by our panel of expert judges to shortlist the “best”. The children whose projects are short listed shall be notified by e-mail provided in their forms. The entries shall then be broadcast on the BOBTV Kidz TV show, where the viewing public shall be invited to vote for the projects. Each week, the entry with the most votes shall win one of our weekly prizes. This process shall continue for 13 weeks. The grand finale shall feature all the weekly winners. The winners shall be presented to the public to choose the best of the best project. The winner gets our grand prize. The festival shall run for 26 weeks (13 weeks of competition)
Prizes: Grand prize; Two week Internship at Amaka Igwe Studios (Fuji House of Commotion and Other Projects) during the long Vacation. This includes working on a live production set.
